Description
No 1769. līdz 1796.g. Sēlpils draudzē par mācītāju strādāja Gothards Frīdrihs Stenders (Vecais Stenders), vēlāk arī viņa dēls Aleksandrs Jānis (Jaunais Stenders).
Dievnams celts 1846.–1850. gadā, tika sagrauts Otrajā pasaules karā.
Pašlaik piedzīvo savu atdzimšanu - modernajām konstrukcijām saguļot ar vecajiem mūriem radīta atvērtā baznīca.
Baznīcas durvis vienmēr ir vaļā. Pēc baznīcas atklāšanas pasākuma atslēgas pazudušas. Rezerves atslēgas būvnieki arī nav varējuši atrast. To uztvēruši par zīmi un dievnamu atstājuši neslēgtu.
Dievnams tiek saukts arī par “zaļo baznīcu”.
